8x12 Hydroponic Urban Farming System - Home growing sustainable food systems
Easy to maintain tolerant system - Requires no prior growing experience
Complete growing solution for sustainable organic vegetables
Complete greenhouse kit to grow organic vegetables. Sustainable vegetable urban farming solution for home gardens, backyards and roof tops. The urban farming is a sustainable source of food that yields amazing crops; the perfect home growing solution for a family of 3 to 6 people. It can grow more than 6x than the same footprint planted on the ground. The 8x12 houses 200+ plants with 92 feet of growing space. Maintenance is very easy and only takes about 1 hour per week. Watering and fertilization are automatic and there are not many bugs to worry about.
Based on Israeli growing technology, the hydroponic farming systems from Urban Food Farms are all about efficiency and sustainable food as a home growing solution. Every inch is calculated and optimized for growth. Growing is done without soil in coco coir. Coco is a renewable resource and is friendly to the environment. Using hydroponics gutters, all the water runoff is recuperated and can be recycled into the food farm or used to water a garden; it retains 30 to 40% of the fertilizer. In warmer climates like Los Angeles, this urban farming system does not use any electricity even in the winter (when planted with winter crops; it would need a heater and light to grow summer crops in the winter).
The Hydroponic Urban Farming System complete home growing solution comes with the following:
- 8'7" high 8x12 greenhouse with double doors
- Unbreakable clear polycarbonate walls
- Light weight aluminum frame
- 2 automatic vents that use not electricity

The sustainable urban farming system can be installed on any flat surface, bare ground,
concrete, asphalt, roof top... It is recommended to install it on a wood
deck but it can be installed on a wood frame. Installation is not
included in the price. Professional installation is available in Los
Angeles and the surrounding areas.
The greenhouse assembly takes about 1 day for 2 people. It takes another day to install the gutters, irrigation and fertilization systems. After that, the urban farming system is ready to plant. It takes about 2 months after planting for the urban farm to start producing. It's in full production after 3 months. Once in full production, it will continue to produce year round. Some plants need to be rotated every 6 to 9 months, others last for years. The coco growing medium needs to be replaced once per year and can be re-used as mulch in a garden.
Not only the urban farming system provides a family with sustainable food, it also greatly reduces the carbon footprint of the household and increased the quality and health of the food. As with any 'going green' solution (like going solar, insulating, water recycling...) the urban farming system saves money as well. A family of who 4 spends $120 per month on vegetables will be able to reduce that spending to anywhere between $0 and $40 per month. Even at savings of $80 per month, This home growing solution pays for itself after 3 years and then saves $960 per year. The return on investment for a family that buys organic vegetables is much faster.
